 When: 14:00 – 15:00
Where: Muuto, Klaco House 28 St Johns Square, London, EC1M 4DN

McDonald’s is evolving the design of its spaces. To reach their 2050 net zero goal, they’re exploring sustainable methods to design restaurant decor. In this panel hosted by Scandi design brand Muuto, the fast food giant discusses its green initiatives, from its partnership with circular economy specialists Reconomy (donating old restaurant furniture to YMCA Together) to its latest pilot restaurants in the French cities of Carbonne and La Guerche de Bretagne. The latter are based entirely around circular furniture and décor and aim to be a test case in whether disassembly and circularity can be adapted and scaled for large commercial markets.

4. Duffy London and Orsi Orban – Gatekeepers

Where: St John’s Gate, EC1M 4BU

Building on its recent collaboration with Berlin-based surface designer Orsi Orban, British design studio Duffy London transforms the historic St John’s Gate of the Order of St John with Gatekeepers, their latest installation on display for the duration of Clerkenwell Design Week. Inspired by organic forms found in nature, a series of sculptures is crafted to evoke a dynamic sense of movement, as though poised to spring to life. Integral to the development process was ensuring that the patterns seamlessly interacted with the flowing forms of the final pieces, imbuing them with a sense of organic vitality.
