Brought to life by Mara and Italian architect, Marcello Ziliani, Icon was born as an armchair and developed into a complete seating collection made up of high-back lounge, stool and desk chairs that can be partnered with multiple bases to suit residential, hospitality and office spaces. Designed to complement Mara’s existing ranges in a synergetic and fluid way, Icon uses patented systems to enable space-saving and height-adjustment.
In Mara’s revisit of Icon, the tub chair features a newfound integrated mechanism that allows the seat and back to move independently. Though upgraded, the aesthetics remain soft and linear with clear-cut lines and the same sinuous profile featuring a receding armrest that appears backwards with an upward-reaching edge. Providing comfort throughout the day, Icon’s moulded foam cushioning adds to its overall lightness, even moreso in the high-back version where the swivel mechanism accentuates the chair’s practicality and dynamism.
Made at “Kilometre Zero”, a name given to the company’s production site in Brescia, Italy, where the chair is crafted using local suppliers, Mara prides itself on Icon collection’s sustainable production methods. Robust and durable, Icon is a chair that is built to last with removable upholstery to enable designers to change its look according to trends.
