BACHMANN OCHNO

As our offices become increasingly agile and flexible, policies like hot desking are growing in popularity. Demand is therefore growing for a ‘one in, one out concept’ of one multifunctional cable or outlet instead of the traditional laptop power supply block or heavy, cumbersome chargers, ensuring reduced power outlets needed in the office, reduced building installation costs and reduced planning time and costs.

A key contributor to this simplified approach to office technology is the introduction of USB C; in fact, from 28 December 2024, new regulations have stated that all mobile devices sold in the EU must be equipped with a USB Type C charging port and comply with Delivery (PD) specifications. This introduction of an almost universal port can impact everything from number of power outlets required in a workspace to overall building installation costs and planning time.

At an everyday level, the widespread adoption of USB C also makes technology like BACHMANN’s OCHNO range possible, which enables users to swiftly join meetings, switch easily between multiple devices and permanent video conference systems, seamlessly share media content and charge devices simultaneously – all with a single cable.

Alongside increased efficiency for remote working and video conferences, integrated technology such as BACHMANN’s MINI PORT REPLICATOR is also designed to improve our in-person office environments. As well as a docking station with a USB A port for phone charging, the MINI PORT REPLICATOR combines everything a laptop needs – including internet access, power supply and screen connection – into one neat panel. This is particularly useful for hot desking or meeting rooms, as the entire desk arrangement can be set up with a single cable and surfaces can remain tidy and free of tangled cables. BACHMANN’s USB-A&C CUSTOM MODULE can also be used to retrofit and upgrade existing installations, bringing clutter-free USB C technology to outdated desk displays. Additionally, all BACHMANN USB products have PD and further protection such as over voltage and temperature integrated already, in line with upcoming regulations.

While end users benefit from the ease of use, simple operation and plug and play operability, smart, integrated technology also offers massive benefits for the original equipment manufacturers and designers in the form of easy installation, cost savings, increased profitability, and improved workplace aesthetics. A world where you only need one cable – imagine that.
